Job Description


Our firm is seeking a tax manager with 7+ years experience in public accounting.  


The Tax Manager has a strong ability to maintain solid client relationships, to effectively supervise staff, to demonstrate a strong commitment to the Firm, and to perform work on all levels of a tax engagement with little supervision.


Performance Expectations


  • Supervise staff including making sure work is delegated effectively and ensuring training procedures are being followed
  • Assume all responsibility for tax engagements, including deadlines and other decisions

  • Have extensive contact with clients, striving to meet their needs as efficiently and creatively as possible

  • Handle all client engagements, regardless of complexity, in an efficient, timely, and professional way


Essential Functions


  • Strong communication skills, written and oral
  • Capacity to earn respect and trust of clients, providing opportunities to sell existing clients new services, as well as attracting new business to the Firm.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and identify major problems to discuss with officers before making decisions

Required Qualifications 


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting 
  • Active CPA license

Experience 


  • Supervisory experience including coaching and mentoring staff  
  • 7+ years of tax accounting within a public accounting firm including the following:  
    • Preparation of individual and corporate income tax returns  
    • Researching complex issues  
    • Tax planning  
    • Tax notice resolution

Knowledge and Skills   


  • Thorough attention to accuracy and organization  
  • Ability to multi-task  
  • Present a polished and professional appearance 
  • Strong computer skills utilizing QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping software, tax software (Ultra Tax preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite

HMM offers paid part-time positions for interns in undergraduate & advance degree programs who are interested in public accounting.

Eligibility:

    HMM internships are generally run from January through April or June through August. The internship program allows applicants to become familiar with a career in Public Accounting.

    We require a minimum commitment of twenty hours per week.  We provide a flexible schedule so that students can plan around their class schedule.
